Department of Missing Headlines?

Is it only at my gas station, or have your pump prices been dropping too? The other day, I paid $2.99 a gallon, a $0.25 drop from the last time I pumped gas. (And a far cry from the $0.24 gas I remember from the gas wars in the 1970s….) I haven't seen anything in the news about this, although it may be because I don't chase after gas price headlines when I read the news.

UPDATE:  I found the headline in the SF Chronicle:

Californians are experiencing a rare reprieve at the gas pump, with the state's average price for a gallon of regular dropping 12 cents in the past month to hit $3.26 Tuesday.

Kudos for to the Chron for reporting this fact.
