Limping back to normal
The malware that hit me yesterday left my operating system dysfunctional, although it didn’t touch my data. The whole experience falls into the “incredibly inconvenient” category, which is so much better than the “devastating” or “disastrous” categories. I’m limping along right now with bizarre settings (e.g., I can’t confuse the CPU that I have a 19 inch monitor, rather than a 12 inch monitor), and I’m missing a lot of my software, but it’s mostly good, and I can survive.
Next week, my computer guy comes over with a whole new operating system (Windows 7, which he promises is much more stable than Vista, the one that got attacked), and I should finally be good to go.
I lost 26 hours of computer time, though, which I now need to dedicate to catching up on paying work projects. You’ll pardon me, I hope, if I don’t do any blogging for the next several hours.
