The helicopter crash

In Rome, I got internet access just long enough to learn about the crash in Afghanistan that killed 30 Americans, including 22 SEAL team members. The media is obsessed with whether the SEALS who died were involved in the bin Laden raid, which would allow (I imagine) for faux-meaningful articles about karmic retribution.

I, on the other hand, am simply devastated to learn that so many of our nation’s best and brightest died in one fell swoop. My kids, too, were shattered. They both admire our military, our Navy and the SEALS, and they couldn’t wrap their minds around the fact that so many Americans, especially SEALS died today.

My thoughts, prayers, and condolences are with the families and friends of those who died. What a terrible loss.
